Meet Your Defence Paralegal

Mark Cardy is the owner and sole-operator of M. Cardy Legal Services. He is a paralegal duly licensed by the Law Society of Ontario who provides legal representation in the defence of Ontario drivers charged under the Highway Traffic Act or other provincial statutes. As a licensed paralegal in Kingston, Ontario, he has spent his entire career dedicated to the creation and implementation of highly effective traffic ticket defences for Ontario drivers.  Mr. Cardy’s focus is trial and Charter advocacy with an emphasis on defending serious, Part 3 matters concerning the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. He has also represented clients in matters concerning minor, summary conviction, criminal charges laid under the Criminal Code of Canada.

Mr. Cardy began his study of law and society at the University of Guelph while taking a Criminal Justice and Public Policy Program immediately out of high school. In 2013, he attended Sir Sandford Fleming College in Peterborough, ON to obtain a diploma in Paralegal Studies and completed the accelerated, two (2)-year program in four (4) consecutive semesters. He then went on to graduate on the Dean’s list for exemplary grades in 2014.

Following graduation, he completed the requisite Law Society of Ontario P1 – Paralegal Licensing Examination on Ethics and Professional Responsibility and became officially licensed to provide paralegal services in September of 2014.

Mr. Cardy’s career in law began as a Paralegal placement student at a high-volume criminal defence firm in Peterborough, ON. Following placement, he was hired by the firm to handle Provincial Offences and Highway Traffic Act matters following an expansion of the firm into eastern, ON and it was in Kingston that he successfully defended his first case.

Between September 2014 and December 2019, Mr. Cardy gradually developed skills in advanced project management as well as in trial and Charter advocacy for both traffic tickets and minor criminal charges. In December of 2019, he elected to open his own paralegal sole proprietorship in the City of Kingston’s beautiful downtown.  He now provides legal services out of his Kingston law office and provides paralegal representation in Kingston, Napanee, Picton, Belleville, Brockville, and more.
